Just like the {summer}, you never h.e.s.i.t.a.t.e

I'm sure you all know what I'm talking about... that feeling as if you where suddenly placed on top of the world. Like the only thing that anyone cares about in that moment is you. Elation, elevation, triumph.

So one hundred and nine degree weather is exceptionally brutal on man and beast alike, but somehow we all managed to survive the Connecticut Summer Classic Horse Show. Except my trainer's daughter did give me a scare, falling off her horse and right into my arms with heat stroke. I don't think I could blame her really, riding in her class in the middle of the day. Our attire isn't exactly lightweight. A collared shirt, pants, derby, gloves, vest, tie, and jacket. They may look good, but they're horrific to wear unless you show at night. (My saving grace, since I wear a dark suit with pinstripes. God I love the pinstripes, they look WAY better than the solid colored suits.)

Foxy was my main concern. My mare is exceptionally suseptiable to heat and gets sick quickly. Thankfully she lasted all four days and gave me the show of my life.

That's right... One of the three Grand Champions of the show. Champion of the Five-gaited division.

I think he was with me in spirit, my late trainer Todd. Sounds stupid right? Not to me at least. I was his last student, showing the last horse he ever did. It just feels as I'm getting to live a bit of his legacy, seeing as he was the best five-gaited trainer in New England, perhaps more even. I think I'd like to continue that way too, teamed up with Foxy. I still have a lot to prove to myself as well.
